Form, movement, balance and color: these are the essential building blocks of Dan Godzieba's unusual and powerful work. These elements form the basis of virtually all-artistic theories and styles, even the casual observer quickly recognizes the existence and interplay in Godzieba's proto-modern abstracts. A trained draftsman and designer in an architectural/engineering firm by trade, he later decided to attend courses at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and now holds a BFA in painting from Temple University's Tyler School of Art.

This explains why he has long felt that his work is easily described as the translation of his vision of the world and of his imagination to the two-dimensional surface. That process began with the reduction of form to essential visual gestures, which contain or move between areas of modulating color. The study of Japanese woodblock prints, as well as figurative drawing and painting techniques continue to show their influence in his work today.
