In the early 1970's, Jane Kaufman was one of the few woman to ever have a one-person exhibition at The Whitney Museum of American Art. Born and raised in New York, Jane sites her Grandmother as teaching her at a very young age to work with her hands. Jane, one of the foremost artists in the Decorative Movement, was a founding member and key contributor to the early Feminist Movement in art and continues in that tradition today.

Although a fine painter in her own rite, Jane's most recent work consists of collages and quilts which are influenced by and pay homage to the American quilt. She believes that quilting was one of the only ways women in this country were able to realize and give voice to their desire to make art.
