Robert Rauschenberg (1925-), an American artist, is one of the most influential figures in avant-garde art. He studied at a variety of institutions, including the Kansas City Art Institute, the Acad,mie Julian in Paris, Black Mountain College in North Carolina and the Art Students League in New York.
