Laurie Fields (1954-) started her career as a textile designer in New York while she was a resident artist at Farmington Valley Arts Center in Connecticut.
Although she is now a full-time painter, textiles and design continue to influence her work, lending complex texture and dimension to her abstract paintings, particularly in her "Avanti" and the "Cipher" series. Scraps of roofing tile, cellophane and bold shapes with three-dimensional characteristics grace her artwork as evidenced in "Olympia."
