| Having grown up in and around Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Lon Stoops knows a thing or two about hex signs. They have long been the main source of inspiration for this upbeat artist. In his work he strives for the same graphic purity and clean, crisp execution. By adding a personal color palette and his own inherent wit to the mix, Lon's hex signs and graphics become something totally fresh - a great example of crossing the old with the new. Lon's interest in clean, bold graphic art has led to discoveries of more and more diverse influences from Japanese block printing to Moroccan tile design, Matisse cut-outs to WPA posters. All of these are receiving fresh new translations when viewed through his talented young eyes. |
