| Photographer Michael Kenna was born in Lancashire, England in 1953. He received his education in Lancashire, Oxfordshire and London, England, and worked for a time in London. Following that he printed for photographer Ruth Bernhard in San Francisco for eight years, where he developed his skills at developing photographic images from the source negatives to the final prints. He has exhibited in group and solo shows widely and is represented in many world-class collections, ranging from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in California, USA to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, France. Awards include the Imogen Cunningham Award (San Francisco, California, USA) and the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters (France). In addition, many books have been published on his work. |
