| Paul (Hippolyte) Delaroche (b Paris, 17 July 1797; d Paris, 4 Nov 1856). Painter and sculptor, son of (1) Gregoire-Hippolyte Delaroche. Though he was offered a post in the Bibliothèque Nationale by his uncle, Adrien-Jacques Joly, he was determined to become an artist. As his brother Jules-Hippolyte was then studying history painting with David, his father decided that Paul should take up landscape painting, and in 1816 he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts to study under Louis-Etienne Watelet (1780-1866). Having competed unsuccessfully for the Prix de Rome for landscape painting, he left Watelet's studio in 1817 and worked for a time with Constant-Joseph Desbordes (1761-1827). In 1818 he entered the studio of Antoine-Jean Gros, where his fellow pupils included Richard Parkes Bonington, Eugène Lami and Camille Roqueplan. Used with permission. Quality: Because we love art so much, we could never frame anything with less than the highest quality materials. From working directly with the best frame moulding manufacturers, to using conservation matting, quality is paramount, and your satisfaction is always guaranteed.
|
Pricing: We are not so bold as to offer a price match "guarantee" with the thousands of sources of custom framed art in the world. But we will stand by the statement that our prices are generally the best you will find...anywhere. We are consistently 40%-60% less than local frame shops, and usually at least 10%-20% less than other online outlets.
