| Christine Debrosky has the rare ability to capture the transient effects of natural light, transforming a seemingly mundane corner of our world into something extraordinary. Born in Port Ewen, NY, her earliest art influences were beautifully illustrated children’s book. She loved the colors, the worlds of fantasy, and the feeling of being able to walk right into the pictures. Nature bathed in light is a favorite subject. While a sense of place is important to Debrosky, more so is season, time of day, and the "intoxicating array of color, shape and form." Ordinary, everyday vistas are transformed by sunlight and shadow to become places of beauty and tranquility. Working in pastel, and oil with it’s rich, pure pigments, keeps Debrosky excited about the inherent beauty and challenge unique to the medium.
