Artist Biographies

Bo Jia

Bo Jia combines Eastern and Western painting techniques and sensibilities to produce his luscious watercolors, oil paintings, and hand-colored stone lithographs. The results are stylized compositions of people or still lifes that evoke serenity despite the saturated color combinations. Bo's work encourages the viewers to remember the beauty of simplicity as well as the elegance of everyday objects. Bo received rigorous training in both Chinese and Western painting traditions at the China National Academy of Fine Art in Hangshou, China. Before arriving in the United States in 1989, Bo worked as a painter and exhibition designer at the Museum of Chinese Revolution and History on Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

In addition to painting, stone lithography and children book illustration. Bo designs porcelain wares, which are sold in fine stores both here and abroad. All styles of Bo's work have gained the attention and appreciation of collectors in the United States, Europe, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Bo resides in Washington D.C. with his lovely wife Allison and their two children.
