Wendy Wegner

Wendy is one of those fortunate people whose life experiences, and even college studies, have all blended together beautifully to define her present career. She grew up in a family oriented toward the arts, including knitters and quilters, and is herself an accomplished craftsperson. (Until recently, weaving, spinning, and dyeing were her focuses). Her childhood home on the seashore in southern New England fostered a love of nature, Wendy's favorite subject. In college, Wendy majored in design and minored in plant science. Today, she combines these interests in her detailed watercolor and acrylic paintings. Wendy achieves her fine details using a very dry, finely pointed brush and painting directly from nature whenever possible.

"I prefer to combine the influences of many artists in my work," Wendy says. "But if I had to choose a favorite artist, Vincent Van Gogh would top the list, not because our styles are related, but because he painted from the heart. I only hope that I can express my feelings and emotions through my artwork." Wendy lives and works in Vermont, in an area rich with natural beauty. It is a perfect setting for an artist whose love of flora and fauna guides her artwork.
