Norman Rockwell often chose the theme of changing technologies for his Saturday Evening Post covers. In this image the focus on the dirver and the slight apprehension on the passenger's face say it all - we are witness to the first spin in a horseless carriage. Here, Rockwell choose the 1908 Watham-Orient Buckboard which was manufactured in nearby Waltham, Massachusetts by the Waltham Manufacturing Company which became the Metz Car Company.
