Biography
Warren Kimble

Vermont artist Warren Kimble's distinctively stylized animals and rural country scenes are reminiscent of early American primitive art, including the antique architectural boards he paints on in keeping with folk art tradition. The unadorned texture of the wood combined with Kimble's acrylic and watercolor technique enhances the charm of his whimsical perspective and engaging subjects.

The artist's career path and ancillary pursuits contribute to the authenticity communicated in his current painting. After graduating from the Fine Arts program at Syracuse University, Kimble initially pursued an advertising career which was followed by teaching, first at the elementary school level and later as a professor at Castleton College in Vermont. Throughout his varied career was an abiding love, understanding and regard for early American crafted furniture, architecture and folk art. Kimble's avid interest in these early decorative arts lead him to become a well-respected authority on American antiques and President of the Vermont Antique Dealers Association.

A 20-year resident of Vermont, Kimble and his wife Lorraine incorporate their knowledge and appreciation of early American style in every aspect of their life, from the renovation of their home in Brandon, VT, to the paintings emerging from the artist's studio.

As a fine artist, Warren has held one-man shows at the Frank J. Miele Gallery in New York, the Chase Gallery in Boston, and numerous galleries in Vermont, including Gallery on the Green in Woodstock. Graduated from Syracuse University with a Fine Arts Degree in 1957, Warren has lived in Vermont for more than 30 years. He and his wife Lorraine operate Kimble House, Inc., in a group of restored 19th century farm buildings that include Warren¹s studio, a gallery, gift shop, showroom and office.
