Stavros Kotsireas

Stavros Kotsiréas was born in Athens in 1960.

As a boy, his father’s house faced the sea and it is the carefree, vivid memories of his childhood that play an important role in the development of his work. The olive groves and cypress trees that he paints from memory, are brought to life with a vivid and expressive colour pallete.

In 1980, Stavros began an apprenticeship with the costume and set designer Vasili Fotoloulo, who won an Oscar for his work on ‘Zorba the Greek.’ Stavros went on to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague, Netherlands. Further postgraduate studies in Scenography and Costume Design led him to transfer with the same creative passion, his compositions onto three-dimensional objects such as ceramics.

Stavros lives and works in Surrey, England. His work can be found in numerous public and corporate collections around the world and has exhibited in over 60 shows.
