Kaldor's original dream when he gave up architecture to devote his time to painting was for he and his wife to live the life of an itinerant artist in the warmer climate of the Mediterranean, sailing from place to place and painting as they traveled. Reality, however, proved that a great deal more discipline was required. Kaldor's travel is restricted to brief forays around Europe to sketch the object of his paintings, whether it be an opera house in Lisbon or a Chateau in France, but he does always manage to stay for a least a few days in each place to absorb the atmosphere and learn as much as possible about the buildings he paints.
