Heather Ramsey

Heather Ramsey was born in San Diego, California and grew up with sand between her toes just a bike ride away from the beach. She received her BFA in Illustration at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California, and also studied art at Palomar College in San Marcos, California.

While attending Art Center, Ms. Ramsey was fortunate to study under some influential teachers. Burne Bogarth, well know for illustrating Tarzan, taught her how to really see. Joel Nakamura, an award-winning freelance illustrator, was another prominent influence on her images. Classic inspirations include Modigliani, Degas, Picasso, Egon Schiele, and Frida Kahlo. Other muses include color, folk art, naiveté, and heartache.

Ms. Ramsey received numerous scholarships and awards, including the Silver Award at The Creative Show-San Diego, College Women's Club of Pasadena, The Ebell of Los Angeles and the Palomar College Award.
