Fullarton enjoys painting ‘en plein-air’ and follows the Scottish Colourist tradition of using strong colour and creating powerful images. He works directly from the subject matter which allows him to develop his ideas as he works on the canvas.
Drawing inspiration from the ever-changing light and its effects on everyday objects, Fullarton paints still-life and portraits as well as his much-renowned harbour and landscape pieces. His work is sold through a number of galleries across Scotland and in London and is exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Institute of the Fine Arts.
