Joe Anna Arnett

When viewing a Joe Anna Arnett floral painting, one might think they are actually viewing a Dutch floral masterwork from the 16th century. The renderings of her flowers are so lush and life like one expects to smell a sweet floral fragrance floating through the air. Indeed, Joe Anna's painting has roots in both European and American traditions. Her subjects, both florals and still life, are presented with the rich color and bravura brush work, combining color theories of the Dutch 16th century and a very American attitude of purity and light.

After earning her BFA from the University of Texas, Joe Anna moved to New York where she continued her studies in fine arts at the Art Student's League. In 1984 she moved to Sante Fe, New Mexico and began exhibiting her painting throughout the Southwest. Since then, she has taken part in numerous museum exhibitions including The Albuquerque Museum of Fine Arts, The Tucson Museum of Fine Arts, and The Gilcreae Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma among others. She became a Master Artist of the Artists of America Show at the Denver Historical Society Museum, celebrating ten years with this exhibition. o Joe Anna is a regular teacher at the Scottsdale Artist's school in Arizona. She shares a studio with her artist husband. James Asher, in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
